Recap
The PUNT era officially kicked off with a good one, as Greg’s Falcons escaped with a 28–24 win over Colin’s Cowboys in a tightly contested Week 1 matchup. Dallas actually held the edge in total offense, 279–271, and controlled the ground game with 89 rushing yards compared to Atlanta’s 34. But the difference was Michael Penix Jr., who was nearly flawless through the air. Penix completed 17 of 21 passes for 237 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions, spreading those scores among four different receivers. Zachariah Branch provided the biggest spark, turning just two catches into 83 yards and a touchdown, including a 71-yard strike. Drake London added six catches for 76 yards and a score, while Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson also found the end zone. Dallas countered with a much more balanced attack. Dak Prescott threw for 190 yards and a touchdown while also leading the Cowboys with 47 rushing yards and another score. Javonte Williams added 42 yards and a touchdown on the ground, while George Pickens led the receiving corps with five catches for 70 yards and a score. In a four-point game, the biggest difference may have been the only turnover of the night. Atlanta played turnover-free football while Xavier Watts picked off Prescott for the game's lone takeaway. The Falcons also recorded the only sack. **Player of the Game:** Michael Penix Jr. — 17/21, 237 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT.
