Recap

Los Angeles couldn't have asked for a much better start to the season. The Rams dominated San Francisco 46–6, combining an efficient passing attack with a defense that forced four turnovers and never gave the 49ers much opportunity to make it a game. Matthew Stafford threw for 219 yards and four touchdowns, with Puka Nacua leading the receiving corps with 102 yards and two scores. Kyren Williams added another touchdown on the ground as Los Angeles finished with 314 yards of offense. Christian McCaffrey provided nearly all of San Francisco's offensive production, rushing for 117 yards and scoring the 49ers' only touchdown. Brock Purdy was held to just 100 passing yards and failed to throw a touchdown. But turnovers were the real killer. San Francisco coughed the ball up **four times while Los Angeles played turnover-free football**. The Rams' defense also recorded four sacks, led by Byron Young with two. The 49ers actually ran for more yards than Los Angeles, 117–95, but the combination of four turnovers, 100 passing yards and four sacks made a comeback nearly impossible. **Player of the Game:** Matthew Stafford — 219 passing yards, 4 TD.
